Material Exploration (Textiles)

 

Textiles using thread, yarn, string, and fabric.

 

For this piece, I started by creating these designs using yarn as the medium, I glued each line of those strings so that they stuck to the cardboard.

 For this  work I created it the same way, by glueing  yarn into a certain pattern that I created.

 For the next 4 textiles, I took this piece of Canvas and stepped all over it wearing shoes that had paint applyed to them. After that I cut up the fabric into four random patterns, and than started to outline the shoe patterns while weaving yarn threw the canvas.

 

 For these last two pieces,  they both create a more 3D effect. For the first image I intertwined  the string creating this pattern, than I glued it down while also incorperating design elements to it. Than for the second piece I wanted to layer the yarn, so I glued yarn upon yarn, upon yarn creating this shag like pattern and texture.
